Why would a teenager spend hundreds of hours memorizing and competing on 300 verses of the Bible?
Perhaps the answer can best be explained with a verse from Psalm 119 “Thy Word have I hid in my
heart, that I might not sin against thee.” It has been said, “The Bible will keep you from sin, or sin will
keep you from the Bible.”
The goal of every Christian parent and teacher of young people is to see them become fruitful and
successful in life. Bible Quizzing is a tool which enables us to reach that goal. As the Lord promised
Joshua in Joshua 1:8 “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth, but thou shalt meditate
therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then
thou shalt make thy way prosperous and then thou shalt have good success.”
Bible Quizzing is great fun and provides young people an opportunity for spiritual and social interaction
which will produce memories to be treasured for a lifetime.
Dr. Art Nazigan, president of MACSA and Headmaster of The Christian Academy in Media, PA, when
Bible quizzing started in 1978, stated: “Of all the activities in which our school is involved competitively,
the attitude of coaches and quizzers in Bible Quizzing best exemplifies the Biblical philosophy of
competition for which we strive.”
